Comments: Crater Lake National Park

You bring back great memories. Cathy and I hit Crater Lake when we took our great 6 week car camping trip around the country in 1983 (or was it 84?- a long time ago anyway!). It was an amazing place, although...I remember all the campgrounds were full and we ended up driving to Oregon Caves National Park. A bit cranky we were.

As for the North Umpqua River, we came up it as we approached the lake. I remember driving by miles and miles of spectacular looking fly fishing only water. Eventally I could not stand any more, so I pulled over, grabbed my fly rod, and headed down the bank. As the river gods are my witness, I fished the riffles of a section no longer than twenty five yards, and caught 5 or 6 really nice size brown trout on a beat-up Muddler Minnow. Sun shining, river flowing, fish biting, it was fantastic. Be sure to give the river a try next time your up that way. Yikes, gotta run, the clients are calling - literally!

P.S. We think of you guys often. With love, Richard

Hi Peds-
These pictures are gorgeous-you make us want to travel to Portland every day! Taylor is ready to move! Even if we had to be "resident aliens" it looks like a good place to live. :)Hope all is well! Love to the fam!

Thanks for the personal story Richard. It sounds like an amazing trip, and I can't wait to get you and my father out here for a fly-fishing excursion!

Love to you, Cathy, and Will,

Jen - The state and city sell themselves. I just soak it in and enjoy.

Can't wait to see you two out here in October!

Ciao!
